
Elsie was born in Seoul, South Korea, currently lives in Switzerland. Ever since she was young, she has been fascinated by far away countries and their cultures. Her first long journey was when she was 19 years old, she traveled all around the world for a year and a half by herself. She started taking photographs at that time.
After traveling, she has won some of national photography awards for her work, including from the 50th anniversary of the South Korea-Latin America Photography Contest, which was displayed in the Coex, Seoul in 2012 to the Swiss Photo Club's featured artist held in both Zurich and in Geneva in 2023. In January 2024, she successfully hosted her debut exhibition in Switzerland, followed by two additional exhibitions later that year.
She has been interested in indigenous and tribal cultures, especially in portrait photography. She held her bachelor's degree in Socio-Anthropology from Paris 8 University and a master's degree in Innovation Entrepreneurship from HEC Paris, all while founding and managing an online language institute as its CEO since 2015.
